successful months of daily shots and a protein-rich diet, Monk was back to his old self. That’s when we had leave town for a week and didn’t have anyone to take care of him. We had known Rick and Cherie as good friends for years, and also knew that they had several dogs and cats, but were unaware that they had a diabetic cat themselves. Luckily, they were able to help us out. Rick and Cherie visited with us before we left town to get acquainted with what specifics Monk required, and to get to know Poe’s needs as well. It was obvious they both loved pets, and were obviously pros at giving painless shots to our big 23-pound boy. Time is also a sensitive issue with administering insulin. Rick and Cherie made sure Monk was on an accurate shot clock the whole time we were gone. It was really comforting to know both cats were in such good hands.
